Meet Dr. Joyce L. Wong (El Paso, TX)

Joyce L. Wong, O.D. received her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1993 and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology cum laude from the same university.

Dr. Wong’s interest in the eyes started at an early age when she began wearing glasses at the age of eight, and she became curious about why she couldn’t see very well. It was her mother who suggested that she consider a career in optometry. Dr. Wong received a four-year scholarship to the University of Houston, where she then joined the Pre Optometry Professional Society as an undergraduate. After four years of volunteer work at the university, rotating through various clinics, Dr. Wong’s interest in optometry and her strong desire to help people see more clearly were strengthened.

When Dr. Wong is not treating patients, she enjoys spending time with her husband, their two daughters, family, and friends. She likes trying out new restaurants and lists cooking, reading, crocheting, and doing cross-stitch as her hobbies.
